Country House Pine Ice Box or Refrigerator from around 1890

A great find, the ice box is in the form a square chest, it stands on chastered legs, this allows the drain hole beneath to be kept clear

A superb piece of Social History, this piece would be found in a Victorian House before the availability of electricity
The interior is zinc lined and fully plumbed to make best use of the ice to chill the contents, the top has a double lid and strong carrying handles
The fridge is made in pine with a rather worn scumble oak finish it is in excellent working order no electricity required and come with it’s key

The Ice Box is 25” high, 19” wide and 18” deep
