Continental Art Deco Oak Double Bed with Cabinets

This superb double bed with attached bedside cabinets is in the art deco style with lovely ribbed drawer and door fronts and a ribbed headboard and footboard. We believe it to be of French origins, and to date from the 1930s/1950s. It is constructed from oak, some solid, some veneered over a wooden carcass and is very heavy. It does dismantle for ease of transportation.
The bed consists of a headboard, with a rolled top and a ribbed and panelled centre section, and a footboard with a ribbed centre section. It retains its original wooden base, although please note that there are no slats, and depending on your mattress some additional support (slats or board) may be required. Screwed into either side of the headboard are bedside cabinets with marble tops. The cabinets have small drawers beneath the tops, beneath which is a small open section, and beneath this are single-door cupboards. The drawer fronts and cupboard doors are ribbed. The bedside cabinets and footboard are supported on inverted shaped plinth bases.
Please note that there is no mattress present.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some surface rusting and corrosion to the metal fixings. The footboard has some heavy scratching to the inside top edge. The marble tops of the bedside cabinets have some ring marks. We believe the central struts of the bed base are replacements / additions. As is mentioned above depending on your mattress the bed base may need some additional support (slats or a board). Please note that the bed base is not a standard size (internal measurements are 150cm x 192cm).

Overall - 106cm high, 253cm wide, 205cm long (to maximums) 22cm high to bed side rail
