Collection of 18th.c. Dutch Delft Pottery.
Purchased as a collection from a private house we are delighted to present this superb lot of late 18th.c. Dutch delftware pottery. Comprising 25 pieces in total including four large (13½” diameter) chargers, a rare meat strainer, two vases and a 18 plates all painted in imitation of Chinese blue and white and Japanese Imari porcelain.
Highlight of the collection is surely the set of six plates with matching polychome design of an oriental figure pointing toward a large vase. Each being monogrammed on the rear PAK for Pieter Adrianus Kocks of the celebrated ‘Greek A’ pottery Delft c.1710. Pieter took over management of The Greek A following the death of his father Andrianus in 1701. Founded in an old brewery from where it took it’s unusual name the pottery was one of the busiest and best regarded in the city. Queen Mary ordered wares from them for Hampton Court palace, indeed pieces still feature in the royal collection today.
Generally the collection is in good condition with just the typical nibbles and chips from around the edges. Unfortunately one of the large chargers (with a chrysanthemum type flower at the centre) has been broken in two and repaired. Please contact us for more images, delivery and shipping quotes. Alternatively you are welcome to view and collect at our large warehouse showroom in Llandudno Junction, North Wales (approximately 45mins from Chester). We have a large and ever changing selection of genuine good quality antique furniture of all types and have twice been shortlisted for the Home and Antiques Magazine Antique Shop of the Year Award. 01492 580022.
