A stunning, hand painted, perfect example of a large Clarice Cliff, AJ Wilkinson, Art Deco, Ceramic ware vase decorated with two beautiful and very colourful 'Love Birds' surrounded by leaves and foliage. A wonderful piece of Clarice Cliff dated 1937 - 1948.
Clarice Cliff is regarded as one of the UK's most influential, prolific and important ceramics artists of the 20th Century. Her work is highly sought after and collected worldwide. Born in 1899 in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, she started work at just 13 years old in 'The Potteries'. She studied at the Burslem School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Clarice Cliff moved to AJ Wilkinson's pottery in 1916. Very ambitious and highly gifted - she was given her own design studio. It was here that she started creating her own world-famous designs including 'Bizarre' wares launched in 1927. Her work was in high demand and sold across the world as it is today.

In perfect condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is a very small sliver that is missing from the footer on the base. Please see photographs.
