Chinese Tek Sing Blue and White Dish

Large Lotus Design Shallow Dish
This dish is part of the treasure from the Chinese trading junk Tek Sing (True Star). She sank in 1822 with the loss of over 1800 lives, greater than even that of the Titanic. She was carrying the greatest cargo ever found. Captain Mike Hatcher, the salvor of the Nanking cargo recovered this amazing hoard and brought it to the market.
This piece bears the original collection label from Nagels Auction House in Stuttgart where the cargo was finally sold 178 years later in Nov 2000 and also comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This is truly one of those items that you wish could talk and tell its story and a conversation piece in its self. After close to 200 years on the seabed there are some signs of wear to the face and slight chipping to the edge but these are all part of its history and character.
