Chinese porcelain famille rose Tongzhi pot
Chinese famille rose pot with 4 character Tongzhi mark - and of the period. Decoration shows a mythical beast followed by servant with sunshade and on reverse 2 servants with flags and instruments. Typical Tongzhi colour palette - in particular the iron red which is badly formed during this period and the burnt gold on the spout rim. Also, typical gritty, burnt looking base. The rim is glazed both interior and exterior and therefore this pot was unlikely to have had a lid - possibly used for rice wine.
Good condition.
Size: height 12.8 cm, width 11.3 cm depth 9.3 cm
