Beautiful Chinese wine cup with scalloped edge and a turquoise interior and base. The exterior of the cup has been finely painted in famille rose enamels with a magpie amongst flowers and foliage. The magpie was a very popular symbol at the time, representing happiness and good luck. There is an iron red Tongzhi mark on the base and the cup shows all the signs of being of the period (1862 - 74) - ie pock marked base, brownish gold rim edging, the magpie decoration.
