This decorative painting is in the form of a 4 fold screen and retains the original Chinese brass wall hangers. Decorated with squares of gold leaf and hand painted Chinese Cranes (red crowned cranes). The position of the sun/moon low in the sky may suggest the annual struggle and migration of the cranes to cross the Himalayas. The Chinese Crane is synonymous with wisdom and longevity and along with the phoenix is the most popular bird in Chinese culture. The characters to the bottom left are an ancient Chinese poem (unable to translate due to ancient script).The frame is hardwood with engraved brass corners and the back is covered in coral coloured material.This impressive wall decoration is in A1 condition.
