Very stylish Chinese Art Deco side cabinet c.1930. Two door cabinet fitted inside with a shelf and three small drawers. Stunning parquetry work exterior with scores of triangular pieces of burr elm laid in a symmetrical pattern joined with ebony stringing with little flower heads at the intersections. Moulded solid mahogany frame. Superb carved feet front and rear, carved as foo dogs with a ball between their front paws. Unusual sprung catch above the doors similarly carved. Drawer fronts carved with faces, the mouths forming the handles. Camphorwood drawer linings. Original maker’s label on the rear for J.L George of Shanghai. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
