Caughley Porcelain Broseley Fluted Coffee Cup
Sweet Caughley fluted coffee cup in the "Broseley" shape with distinctive ear shaped handle. The outside is decorated with a barbeaux sprigs pattern, hand painted flowers in blue, red, green and yelloe. The inside has a running border of green leaves and blue and red cornflowers, framed with a gilded band and gilded scalloped rim. Further gilt band around the foot and some detailing to the handle. Unmarked, c.1795, for a similar example, see A Compendium Of British Cups, Berthoud, plate 84 or Caughley & Worcester Porcelains, Godden, plates 75 and 82.
It measures 6.7cm (2 5/8") high, 7cm (2 3/4") rim to rim and 9.2cm (2 5/8") rim to handle.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Surface wear is light: there is a small loss to the gilding on the foot band, another to the band inside the rim and a little to the handle. Otherwise just a little usual wear to the rim in a few places, and minimal wear to the enamels. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
We wish to ensure all our customers are happy with their purchases and offer a full no quibble return policy for all items returned within 14 days. We ask that returns are notified within 7 days where possible. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility in terms of cost and safeguarding the item through transit.
