Catherine Sparkes, Mrs., nèe Edwards, was a genre, flower painter and illustrator who studied at the Lambeth and Royal Academy schools of art. She exhibited at the R.A. from 1866 to 1890 as well as with the New Society of Painters in Watercolours and the Grosvenor and Dudley Galleries. In 1868 she married John Charles Lewis Sparkes, director of the Lambeth Pottery, and thereafter did much work as a tile painter and designer.
