Carved oak box settle or hall bench c.1910. Backrest with centre panel carved with a splendid pair of dragon grotesques surrounded with an acanthus border. Shaped and carved arms with lion’s masks at the tops. Lift-up seat with a carved and moulded edge, useful storage below for boots and shoes etc. Carved front panel below the seat with cornucopia (or horns of plenty) and further grotesques either side of a scallop detail. Oak side and back panels. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 48″, depth 16″, height 37″.
