Remarkable Gothic style carved oak kneehole desk c.1930. Joined oak top with a chamfered edge over six drawers to the front of the desk with unusual iron drop handles, arranged around a central kneehole with a trefoil arch apron. Designed to stand in the centre of a room, the rear of the desk features all twelve signs of the zodiac in low relief, plus four beautifully carved allegorical figures at the corners and a row of five comic characters across the top edge. With linen fold carved panels to the sides and architectural mouldings to the corners and plinth. Excellent condition, repairs to the top, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
