An excellent burr walnut pedestal desk in the early Georgian style. Very well made in solid walnut with stunning burr walnut veneers. The front of the desk is of gently curving break-fronted form. The top is fitted with a sumptuous 3 piece brown/conker leather writing surface which is decorated with gilt tooling to the edges. There is a series of 9 drawers (one long central drawer, flanked by 2 pairs of graduated sets of 4 shorter drawers) all fitted with their original ornate brass handles. The drawers are lockable, key supplied. The whole desk stands on elegant squat cabriole legs with carved detailing to all four sides. Further carved decorations can be found to the top edges and corners. This desk is finished to the rear so it could be free-standing within a room if desired. We have had it sympathetically repolished to a very high standard. It is now offered for sale in excellent condition with a wonderful colour and patina.
