Brown-Westhead Moore Rope Handle Cup & Saucer
A fabulously stylish pedestal tea cup and saucer by Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co. with their iconic rope twist moulded handle that "splits" below the terminal to loop around the foot. The main body in a stunning clear celeste bleu turquoise enamel topped with a wide set of gilt bands, a very fine sawtooth or dentil band below a sandwich of a wide band between two finer. The wider main band has an intricately reserved pattern very well painted in green and black enamel to depict a running piece of swagged silk.
Marked with pattern number C5870 and with the printed registration lozenge mark dated for 1868.
The cup measures 9.2cm (3 5/8") rim to rim and 6cm (2 3/8") high and the saucer is 13.8cm (5 7/16") and 2.3cm (15/16") high.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
