'Brighton Bun' Travelling Candlesticks
This attractive little set of travelling candle holders in olive wood would appear to have been a souvenir from 'Mount Generoso'. The mountain was a popular tourist destination as far back as Victorian times and straddles the border between Switzerland and Italy. When disassembled the two halves fit together to form the 'Brighton Bun' shape. One of the bases has the date '1894' pricked out on it. Sadly the other base has a crack in the wood but this does not detract from the piece. The threads on the various sections are slightly worn but still work. The set is complete with its turned wood snuffer. Its height assembled is 8cm and the diameter is 11cm.
