Beautiful Georgian Elm Welsh Settle c. 1790

A lovely late 18th Century Welsh settle made from a elm and having a superb warm and rich colour and natural sheen from generations of use, wax and care. The settle is very pretty and has unusual and original cupboards to the front board with original curved shelves within. The seat is twin boarded, original, and fixed.
Condition is excellent throughout, heavy and very sturdy and tightly jointed.
There are minor knocks, nibbles and bruises consistent with age and use and an old fine and completely stable crack in one of the fielded panels of the back. Another of the back fielded panels has a small and very old let in repair - none of which is unpleasant or significant and in our view is part of the charm and character of the bench.
Heavy and comfortable with a really tactile quality this is a lovely early settle of excellent colour and in good original condition
Dimensions are:
Height is 49 inches max, width is 66.5 inches max, depth is 22.75 inches max (measured with back touching the wall to front feet of the settle).
Depth of the seat is 15.5 inches. Height of back from seat is 31.75 inches, height to seat from floor is 29 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
