Arts & Crafts Oak Secretaire Bureau c1910
An Arts & Crafts secretaire cabinet/bureau made of solid oak c1910. The top drawer pulls out with a drop front to reveal a writing surface with skiver and an arrangement of small drawers and pigeon holes. Below are two short drawers over two long drawers with original brass handles. The locks are present but no key. Carved support detail decorated with acanthus leaves.
In good original condition, no breaks or repairs. All the drawers slide well and the skiver is in excellent condition for its age. There is a small amount of rubbing on the drop front where the keys were hanging, and a faint ring mark to the back right hand corner on the very top.
Although unnamed it is a quality piece of furniture and very well made.
110cmH x 106.5cmW x 48cmD
Desk clearance height 75cm
Our stock items are carefully selected by myself and I only buy good quality items which may need small repairs, a clean and a polish. I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
