Arthur Blackburn Pair of watercolours
Arthur Blackburn (British 1853-1925) was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire in 1853 and studied at The Leeds School of Art. He lived and worked in Yorkshire throughout his life and is known for collaborating with the Victorian artist John Atkinson Grimshaw. He exhibited work at the Royal Academy and other Galleries throughout the U.K.
A pretty pair of watercolours in original frames dating to the end of the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century. One entitled “Near Bolton Abbey”, the other “Spring Gorse”
signed lower right.
Weight:1.9kg
size frame: 12 x 10” and 9 1/2” x 7 1/4” ( very slightly different sizes)
image : 6 1/2” x 4 1/4” and 6 x 4”
Condition is Excellent: painting in very good order, no foxing , nice and bright colours, just the odd nick to gilt frame as you might expect for age.
