wonderful oak art nouveau sideboard by Smith & Payne, cabinet makers, Market street, Leicester.
the shield back has a shelf with carved supports over shaped base with fabulous ornate relief carved stylised designs, two drawers with copper handles and two cupboard doors below ( one opening to baize lined drawer, the other with lead lined cellaret drawer , the doors themselves with further relief carved decorations and ornate copper plates and hinges.
normal marks and scuffs commensurate with age and use but overall this really is the most wonderfully ornate, top quality sideboard not done justice by the photographs, extremely heavy and well made and in overall good clean condition.
