Description:
Here is an example of a good quality and unusual antique art deco figured walnut serpentine desk, circa 1930, in excellent original condition. The desk boasts a classic “skyscraper” design, with a stepped serpentine shaped top section above two bow shaped pedestals. The top of the desk features stunning quality figured walnut, mirror-matched veneers. The top section consists of three serpentine shaped drawers above a bank of three bowed drawers in each pedestal. The desk retains its original walnut knobs and handles. The pedestals sit on elegant recessed art deco curved plinths. This desk boasts classic art deco styling in the overall design of the curved corners, clean lines to the tops, the handles and the feet. The drawers feature sycamore linings. This is a single piece desk. It is unusual to see of a desk of this design and shape in the marketplace.
The desk boasts a mellow walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patinaton this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
