Art Deco English Console Table circa 1932
This is a very rare and one off opportunity to acquire not only a wonderful and stylish piece of antique furniture but something that is unique and a piece of English history. For your consideration is this Art Deco console table which was made for the Paramount theatre, Leeds, England and used in their Foyer. Dating to 1932 this wonderful console features a polished solid marble grey top. Around the edge is a poly-chrome painted silvered frieze. This silvering effect is accented throughout the whole piece which contrasts so stylishly against the figured walnut carcass.
The whole piece is in excellent condition having been professionally re-polished. This is an ideal piece for making the right statement in a entry /hallway or any living and dining area, even an office! You won't see another of these, this is unique and to the period and made specifically for this theatre.
The Paramount Theatre was opened in 1932. The table was used in the balcony foyer. The interior to the theatre was by Chas M Fox. The architects were Frank Thomas Verity and Sam Beverley.
