Antique William IV Mahogany Linen Press
This very fine example of a William IV Linen Press is of very high quality, in excellent original condition & free from warps or splits. It’s all mahogany & the patterns of the wood are exceptional. This linen press dates to around the 1830-40 period & it still has all the original sliding trays in the top section, which could be taken out & replaced with a hanging rod, although I would advise to keep the trays, because it’s more valuable with them. The top cornice has a typical William IV protruding top & the two doors have arched tops. The bottom section has three levels of drawers, all graduated in depth & with fine dovetails. They also have beautifully turned original bun handles, Bramah locks & escutcheons. I believe the wood used was called ‘fiddle back mahogany’ & it has a lovely warm colour. The feet are boldly turned & this linen press separates into two sections for easy transportation.
