Antique Welsh Eisteddfod Prize Purses
We are delighted to offer this rare and special collection of beautiful hand made Eisteddfod purses and ribbons. Dating from the 1920’s with one ribbon from Cross Hands in Carmarthenshire dated 1927 this beautiful collection would look amazing mounted and framed.
In south west wales there was a tradition of giving purses to young ladies in which contained prize money or sometimes a silver medal for their achievements at local Eisteddfodau. Several are made from silk, the ribbons of which show age related signs of wear and fragility.
The colours are nice and each purse is extremely charming. Overall a truly lovely and important piece of history and a real conversation piece.
We are happy to offer mainland UK postage free of charge with this item or collection from our Antiques shop is always welcomed.
Please feel free to message us with any questions or to purchase this or any of our pieces and we will be happy to help.
Many thanks and best wishes, Jonathon & Yvonne Our preferred payment method is by Bank Transfer - BACS, or we are happy to take payment by Cash or Cheque and by PayPal for smaller value items.
