Although acquired just over the Welsh border, in Shropshire, I believe this washing bat started its life further north. Probably in the north east where I'm told this type of bat is influenced by Scandinavian design. There's no reason to suppose otherwise, the design, if it worked a thousand years ago would have worked just as well a hundred and fifty years ago. There's never been a beetle near it and through use it's as smooth as silk, a desirable piece of Treen.
