Antique Sterling Silver Belt Buckle Locket
A superb antique sterling silver belt buckle locket. This delightful Victorian Aesthetic piece is suspended on an elegant sterling silver eighteen inch belcher chain necklace.
The front features belt and buckle which symbolize the sentimental bonds of love. The interlocking belt and the buckle represent how perfectly matched the suitors are to one another. The back is decorated with a beautifully engraved stork in a middle eastern setting. The symbolism of the stork is still today a lucky talisman for childbirth, as it was in the Victorian era.
Wonderful! No dents or damage. This divine piece was assayed at Birmingham in 1893. Such a bold statement piece which can be worn showing either side as a pendant or as a photo locket. The whole item is gleaming clean. The interior contains recesses which are ideal for photographs or a lock of hair. The hinge works perfectly. The locket opens and closes securely. The bale is also stamped with lion passant (sterling silver).
