Antique Oriental Large Dish, Possible Japanese antique oriental dish %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This superb pottery dish is lavishly decorated in tones in colour with gilt highlights. We believe it to be of Japanese origin and it has character marks to the base. We would estimate it to date from the early part of the twentieth century. It is hand-painted with oriental figures in a landscape setting and is nicely done.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There are some manufacturing imperfections as might be expected. The piece is overall grubby and has some surface scratching, scoring and wear in places, affecting the paintwork in places. There are no chips or cracks that we can see, but there is an old metal plate hanger attached to the dish which has rusted, marking the plate in places and rubbing at the paintwork where it hooks over at the sides.
