This is an antique library table, Victorian Gothic revival. Scottish oak with carved decoration, this side table dates to the late 19th century, circa 1880.

A handsome library table displaying good colour and grain interest
Profusely carved throughout with typical Victorian excess
In good proportion with a desirable aged patina

The top displays well with wisps of medullary rays and a decorative edge moulding
The shaped frieze offering a disguised drawer to one side
Each corner guarded by magnificent lion head masks
Inverted umbral and ball finials beneath scrolled brackets

Raised on stout turned pillars over carved, scrolled legs and feet
Well executed, bulbous carvings to the upper leg
The legs united by a robust, carved stretcher
