Antique Hallmarked Yellow Gold Locket
A splendid antique fully hallmarked yellow gold locket which was assayed at Chester in 1913. Such a romantic lucky talisman! This piece is ornamented with deeply symbolic motifs. The shield cartouche represents the desire to protect the recipient. Acanthus leaves adorn the front and back of the locket. Acanthus leaves have represented immortality, rebirth and longevity since ancient times. The locket is oval with with a superbly rendered cruciform shape. Ivy leaves adorn the back. Ivy symbolises everlasting love, deep friendship, fidelity and wedded bliss.
The locket and necklace catches and hinges work perfectly. The interior case can accommodate two photographs or portraits.
We have included an ornate vermeil necklace so that this wonderful antique can be worn and enjoyed immediately.
