Antique Continental Glazed Bookcase Cabinet
This attractive glazed bookcase is of large proportions. We believe it to be of continental, probably French, origins and to date from the first part of the twentieth century. It is constructed from solid wood, probably a mix of pine and fruitwood. The bookcase has a single bevel-edged glazed door, which opens to reveal four adjustable wooden shelves. Beneath this there is a single drawer with a sliding wooden cover. There are turned wooden columns to either side of the door and decorative carving to the top cornice and drawer front. The piece is supported on short turned legs to the front and square legs at the back. The glazed door and the drawer retain their locks and two keys are present which work both locks.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is a small crack to the bottom left-hand corner of the glazed door, and there is some heavier scuffing with minor wood loss on either side. There is also an area of wood loss to the top of one of the columns. The piece shows some signs of restoration.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 214cm high, 103.5cm wide, 51cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
