Antique Combination Games Table, Middle Eastern

1 of 6
Our Stock # 18.9105
This is an antique combination games table. A Middle Eastern, inlaid olivewood and exotic wood metamorphic chess and backgammon table, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Strikingly ornate, with an exceptional metamorphic form to host a multiple of favourite games
Displays a desirable aged patina, slight loss to the top commensurate with age
Olivewood stocks profusely accentuated with bone and wooden inlay
Rich caramel hues with contrasting saffron and amber colouring
Fascinating upper, with rotating motion and dual folding action
Upon rotation, access is granted to a generous card and counter storage box
Initial fold reveals a crushed velvet card table in a delightful emerald green
Half of the card baize folds upon itself, revealing the exquisite chess table
One final folding action opens out fully to show the backgammon board
Table edge hosts a pair of sliding compartments, with an inset tumbler holder at opposite corners
Deep apron hosts an arcaded edge with a quintet of drop finials to the front and rear
Twin shaped legs to each end, standing upon pairs of arched feet
United across the middle with an ornate stretcher rail, offering a final flourish
This is a truly beguiling antique combination games table, graced with the fascination of its inclusion of chess, backgammon and cards within one exceptional form. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home or institution.
