Antique Chinese Painted Corner Cabinet, Bow Front, Cupboard, Ebonised c.1850
This is an antique painted hanging corner cabinet dating to c.1850.
The simple bow fronted form of this ebonised cabinet, with simple mouldings to the top and bottom, are the canvas and frame for the captivating hand painted scenes that adorn the twin doors that hang from the solid brass butterfly hinges.
In tactile relief and muted warm hues, the paint has been layered upon the cabinet in a scene featuring birds, flora and fauna, buildings, bridges and rivers.
Behind the working lock and key, the original painted interior is fitted with three shelves with the uppermost featuring a sculpted, serpentine front.
Complete with hanging brackets to top for ease of fitting, this cabinet is offered in good antique condition ready for the home.
