This is an antique chess table. An English, burr walnut over mahogany games or side table, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.

Pleasing oval gaming table
Displays a desirable aged patina
Striking burr walnut with fine grain interest
Rich caramel hues to the wax polish finish

Gaming surface presented with bleached and ebonised birch chess squares
The chessboard is 30.5cm (12”) wide sat comfortably within an ovular tabletop
The whole supported with a slender mahogany column
Elegantly carved, tri-form cabriole legs with quality leaf detail to the knee and toe
