A rare & interesting chess games table presented in very good antique condition
Displaying fine kingwood veneer over mahogany
With needlepoint tapestry playing surface below glass
Tapestry displaying fine detail with scroll frieze delineated by rope border, and foliate themed 'white' squares
Actual chess board area is 38.5cm wide (15.2")
Whole needlepoint is 50cm wide (19.7")
Delightfully blessed with a 'push-me pull-me' drawer so both players access the same storage space
With 'Pembroke' overtones to the style giving narrow drop leafs, solidly supported by traditional twin flying brackets
Rising from a classic scroll toe, quatrefoil base, into an elegant tapering octagonal stem
Desirable original wooden pulls to the mahogany lined, dovetailed drawers
Attractive kingwood showing wonderful grain and fine colour
Of quality craftsmanship with attractive proportions
