Antique Breakfront Mahogany Bookcase
Antique mahogany breakfront bookcase of lovely proportions & of very high quality. I would date it to around the 1890 period, but it may be older & it's also in excellent condition. All the doors have working locks, although I believe all the keys are different. This bookcase is solid mahogany throughout, with flame mahogany veneers on the front section. There is a dental moulding going around the cornice & under that are four astral-glazed doors. The adjustable shelves inside can fit into any of the grooves. The bottom cupboards are naturally deeper, with panelled door fronts & one shelf inside each compartment. This bookcase sits on strong, but elegant bracket feet. It comes into two sections, top & bottom. It's still quite heavy even in two sections, because of the quality.
