This is an antique bow front tallboy. An English, mahogany and brass chest of drawers, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1780.
Delightful bow front chest of four long drawers with beautiful figuring
Presenting a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select stocks present fine grain interest, accentuated with ebonised stringing
Rich caramel hues with warm highlights dance across the bowed form
Four graduated drawers at heights of 10cm to 17.5cm (4'' to 7'')
Dressed with distinctive drop handles, with a 'human eye' motif to the oval backplates
Inset brass-lined locks present on each fascia — untested, key absent
Upper drawer with a trio of divisions for better organisation
Standing upon a quartet of shaped bracket feet in the Sheraton manner
This is a wonderful antique bow front tallboy, with fine figuring and useful proportion. As good to use within a drawing room as it would be for the bedroom. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
