A truly magnificent Victorian biscuit box made from glass and silver plate by the top-notch silversmith, CRESWICK & COMPANY of Sheffield, later acquired by the famous William Hutton.

The base is in the form of a separate tray or underplate, the glass fitting perfectly. The tray is beautifully engraved as is the hinged lid. The lid is topped with the most adorable floral and foliate finial, washed in gold.

The glass is beautifully etched to complete this very special example. Dating to around 1880, it remains in superb condition. The tray measures 8" in diameter and the lid diameter measures 5 1/4" standing 6 3/4" tall to top of finial.
