A great Anglo - Indian carved hardwood foot stool, dating to the late 19th Century, carved and pierced overall with flowers. This would have been made in India and it echoes the style of a Victorian Footstool but with the identifiable floral carving and piercing so often used on the Indian Subcontinent. The floral carving is crisp and the four feet are stylistically elephant's head in form. The seat pad has recently been professionally reupholstered.
