An 18thc Staffordshire pearlware teapot c.1795
A particularly attractive octagonal pearlware teapot, dating from the late 18th/early 19thc. Zigzag rim border moulding, highlighted in red enamel. Hand painted floral sprays in green, cobalt blue, iron-red and magenta. Stylised acanthus leaf moulding to the base of the pot.
Rim and cover decoration of blue blobs, from which emerge leaves and flowers.
Michael Berthoud illustrates a similar example as Plate 966 of "An Anthology of British Teapots".
Condition
In very good antique condition. As is typical of these fragile items, some small chips, including a pair to the spout.
