A superb Aesthetic Period ebonised desk bureau. The piece comprises of a galleried top section with central lockable cupboard with stunning carved floral design details throughout. This is above an open recess which is flanked by short drawers. The fold down slope again with stylised sunflowers is also hinged to enclose a secret compartment. Below this is an open knee-hole flanked by single cupboards which is raised on angled supports and joined by a central floor stretcher. Hand-made brass fittings of top quality manufacture. This piece is a truly one off design and has certainly been influenced by the designs of Christopher Dresser or E.W. Godwin. circa 1875
