A fabulous Victorian four piece silver plate tea service in the Regency period design, but made in Sheffield between 1878 and 1886. It was made by the company Jehoiada Alsop Rhodes & Barber who operated in Sheffield between the years 1878 and 1886.
The set is in good, used condition, with very little wear to the silver plate, and no dings or dents.
The teapot stands 18cms high with 28cms from the handle to the end of the spout. The water jug stands 22 cms high and the handle to the spout measures 26cms. The set has a gross weight of 1824 grams.
There is an inscription in the cartouche of the teapot which says that it was presented in 1887 to the Reverend Alexander Mackay following 14 years ministration at a church in Rogart, which is near to Inverness.
