A Swansea botanical plate, likely by Thomas Pardoe
Description
A lovely Swansea creamware botanical plate, c.1800-10, painted with a botanical specimen of a sweetpea plant and accompanied by an iron-red hand-painted inscription. The painting is a faithful botanical representation. We believe that it may well be by Thomas Pardoe. The script used is consistent with other examples attributed to him and the plate is very well painted. Pardoe painted numerous botanical services for his employer, Messrs Haynes, Dillwyn and company.
Chocolate brown rim.
Please note that we are selling a sauce tureen of matching design.
Condition
In excellent condition. No damage, restoration or repairs. Minor wear to the enamel.
Dimensions
8.5" wide
Payment is accepted by bank transfer, Paypal and UK personal cheque.
