A superb French, Hungarian watered ash commode
An exceptional quality “Gris St Anne” marble topped French Louis Philippe Hungarian watered ash 4 drawer Commode.
This Antique commode has a beautifully figured grey marble top known as Gris St Anne. It is quarried mainly in Belgium at Gougnies near Charleroi and at Biesme, Namur.
Having the finest quality Hungarian watered ash veneers this commode has been constructed with 4 oak lined drawers each retaining their original locks, handles, escutcheons and mounts, all in bronze. The shaped cushion drawer to the top below which are three further drawers with the veneers matched to run through the drawers and their styles being a sign of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. In excellent condition. 900mm high, 1270mm wide and 570mm deep. Circa 1850
