For sale today we have this absolutely stunning and incredibly grand biscuit barrel by Eliza Simmance for Doulton Lambeth. The stoneware section is decorated in high Victorian style with incised foliates and geometrics, applied rosettes and Elaborate Pate-sur-Pate panels contained within beadwork borders. The silver plated stand features 3 grotesque bearded serpent forms that hold the upper band, while the chevron bordered tray section sits upon intricately detailed claw feet. The collar has further chevrons, while the lid is finely chased with flowering plants and borders.
Biscuit Barrels by Simmance are seldom seen and this is the finest example that I have ever come across.

8" across the stand and 6 1/2" tall. Stamped Doulton Lambeth 1882 along with a conjoined ES artist mark. The base has a Heraldic Lion in a shield along with the No 7 to the centre and T3497 to the rim.
