This simple oak desk of small proportions was made by Brynmawr and inspired by the Arts & Crafts and Modernist movements. It has a single pedestal of three graduated drawers and a shelf above the kneehole. The handles and plinth are ebonised and it has its original beige linoleum top.

It dates to the 1930s and was designed and manufactured by Brynmawr for the Aberdare Hall of Cardiff University, from where it was only recently removed.

The original lino top has numerous marks but remains perfectly usable. A section of oak veneer to one side has been replaced and polished to the same colour as the rest.
