A remarkable pair of 19th Century profusely carved mahogany armchairs in the Chippendale style, superb quality and lovely dense timber, the carved supports decorated with acorns and flower foliage and having craved scrolls at the top either side, at the centre is a pierced and carved back splat with carved swags, the S-curved arms terminating with carved scrolls, the seat having been re-upholstered in a green leather with brass stud decoration, with swept cabriole legs at the rear and carved cabriole legs at the front terminating with a ball and claw foot. Circa 1870.
