A 19th Century Gilt Carved Console Table.
A 19th century Italian gilt carved and painted console table, depicting a large winged griffin with breasts and hoof feet, and standing upon a mirrored pair of larger hairy hoof feet with a rear scroll support. The tray top in the grotto manner with a carved foliate boarder.
The console table would have once lent against a matching pier mirror and so there is a gap between the wall and the tray top when standing. There are a few minor loses to the carving commensurate with age. The whole surface has a lovely cruddy patina to the gilt and paint work and is and excellent interiors piece.
