A 19th Century French Secrétaire à Abattant, the marble top above a finely marquetry-inlaid mahogany base, arranged with a single drawer over a fall-front secretaire, enclosing a fitted interior with drawers, pigeonholes, and a green leather writing surface. Below, a pair of cupboard doors inlaid with urn motifs provide further storage. The whole flanked by gilt-bronze caryatid mounts and raised on square tapering legs with ormolu sabots. A handsome and practical piece of French Empire-inspired furniture, combining elegance with utility.
