Of long and low design, and made of solid oak, this sideboard has two drawers either side of a central cupboard with panelled doors that open to reveal two shelves. It has carved and moulded decoration and the stretcher is pegged into place.

It was retailed by Hamptons of Pall Mall, a prestigious furnishers who worked on the fitting of luxury liners in the early twentieth century. A hint towards their expertise in this area is the ball catches on the bottom of the drawers, commonly used to counter the effects of stormy seas.

It measures 86.5cm tall, 47cm deep and 176.5cm wide.

It is in very good, refinished condition with a few old scratches and dents to the top. The cupboard door hinges are a modern replacement. It would originally have had painted decoration, traces of which can still be seen in the moulding.
