6 x Christofle Silver Plate Table Spoons, 1899
Here we have a top quality set of six French 19th Century Silver Plate Table Spoons or Serving Spoons in the Filet or Chinon pattern, the French equivalent of Fiddle and Thread. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The spoons are made by the world famous Christofle company in Paris and date to 1899. Founded by Charles Christofle in 1830, they pioneered silver plate in France in a similar way to Elkington & Co in the UK. Hugely successful, their name became a byword for products of the very finest quality, a reputation they still retain today.
The spoons are in very good condition with just a small amount of wear to the silver plate on the underside of some of the bowls where they rest on the table top. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 21.1cm / 8.3ins long and the set of six together weighs in at 500g / 17.6oz.
The spoons are marked on the underside of the stems with the name Christofle, the CC mark with the scales and the number 84, which shows that they were plated with 84g of silver per dozen pieces, and the separate number 99, which shows they were made in 1899.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
